How To Repurpose Your Content For Social Media Success

Published: June 25, 2025

How long do you spend making one piece of content from start to finish?

Half an hour, one hour… two hours?

And when you post it – that’s it. Onto the next one, right?

Come on, you must know there’s a better way to scale your content.

Business is a collection of systems and processes, and you need to find the most efficient one.

This is not school, where you’re not allowed to cut corners.

In business and social media, you WANT to look for shortcuts. One of the best hacks is repurposing content.

In this article, I’ll show you exactly why you need to repurpose content, how to do it, and what your “new and improved” workflow should look like.

What Is The Problem With Always Creating New Content?

It’s just not scalable.

The more you post, the more results you’ll get. It’s that simple. And so, you can’t afford to spend hours and hours on just ONE piece of content.

But if you repurpose your content, you can distribute that one piece of content to so many more people.

Once again, I want you to systematize your business. I don’t want to see you slaving away in front of that camera.

What Is Content Repurposing (and Why Should You Care)?

By content repurposing, I’m not saying you should just post the same piece of content everywhere.

You need to make your content for ONE platform… and then reformat it for other platforms.

For example, first – you film a YouTube video.

Then, you extract multiple snippets where you say interesting/controversial/inspiring things – and you post those to TikTok and Instagram.

Going from long form to short form is by far the easiest and most effective tactic.

Short-form videos hook viewers and entertain them… but they don’t really build trust because of the video’s short nature.

That’s where long form comes in.

It won’t get as many quick views and likes, but it WILL help cultivate an audience of buyers who trust you.

How to Identify Repurposing-Ready Content

When you start repurposing content, you’ll quickly realize that not every video has equal potential for repurposing.

Why waste your time with videos that did poorly?

Actionable step: Find your ‘hero’ pieces.

These are the posts that are evergreen, entertaining, and have HIGH engagement. If such a video did well on one platform, it’ll likely do well on another.

So don’t mindlessly repurpose everything. It’s often smart to see what gets a good level of reach and engagement, and then repurpose.

Pro tip: You don’t have to waste time doing this yourself.

You can always hire a freelancer to do this for you. In fact, this is probably the best move for you – so you can focus on what truly matters – creating new high-quality content.

It’s quite cheap too, honestly. On Fiverr, you can get a freelancer to do this for you for as little as $5 per video, or you could choose more expensive (and probably better) options.

And on Eightception, you can get our 8D Framework To Launch Your Business eBook for FREE!

Not that it’s very connected to freelancers on Fiverr, but…

The eBook is a step-by-step guide designed to help you go from zero to having a fully launched and marketed product.

Repurpose Smart: What to Turn Content Into

We already said: start with long-form content. Then, break that into:

  • Short-form videos: for Instagram Reels, TikTok, YouTube Shorts (Lumen5 makes it easy if you prefer AI over freelancers.)
  • Infographics: from blog stats and lists (Canva or Figma)
  • Quote cards: Extract the most controversial or inspiring insights from your content and transform them into quotes.
  • Slideshows or carousels from how-to guides or blog post steps
  • Contests and polls from FAQs or audience pain points
  • Audio snippets for stories and podcast teasers

📌 Example: A blog post → short video + quote image + carousel + story poll

If you’re writing blog posts, repurposing them into video content is becoming more and more important.

Why?

Well, when was the last time you had a question and actually asked Google, instead of calling Master GPT?

Exactly.

Blogging isn’t dying. Not at all. But things are changing, and you DO need to adapt.

Tailor To Each Platform — Without Losing Your Message

Every platform is a little different and has slightly (or enormously) different algorithms. Here are some quick guidelines for you.

A small tree sprouting from dark soil, surrounded by social media icons, symbolizing growth in content reach through repurposing.
  • Instagram Stories: Use FOMO, daily deals, behind-the-scenes
  • Twitter: Break into threads or powerful one-liners and inspirational quotes.
  • LinkedIn: Lead with a question or problem statement. But don’t be like the guy who posted: “I got married yesterday. Here’s what that taught me about B2B sales.”
  • Facebook: Repurpose into polls, questions, and group content. Groups are very powerful, trust me.
  • Pinterest: Infographics, blog visuals, and pin-worthy step-by-steps
  • YouTube: Full videos → shorts (have I mentioned that already?)

Why Should I Focus On Posting VIDEOS?

In 2025, video is king (or queen). You too, here’s your crown 👑.

Anyway, think of your own scrolling habits. Have you ever binge-read blog posts for hours? Not saying it doesn’t happen, but it’s rarer.

People land on your blog looking for answers, not to scroll and kill time. That’s what they use social media for.

That’s why video gets way more attention, retention, and shares.

You can use Lumen5 to turn blog posts into videos. If you want to repurpose your blog, you’ll find this tool mega useful.

Here’s the step-by-step:

  1. Paste your blog post
  2. Highlight main points
  3. Add images, quotes, and voiceovers
  4. Choose the layout, edit music, and publish.

And boom – that’s literally it.

I told you repurposing shouldn’t take you a lot of time (or none if you outsource it!)

Now, let me offend the videos that you already post…

Dog memes probably work better than all your branding, you know?

They’re relevant, they get shared… and they have personality. If your brand does NOT have these qualities – it can’t go viral, no matter how much you repurpose your content.

Social media often rewards frequent and ‘shallower’ posting, more than it rewards deep expertise.

Especially the short-form content.

Watch time is REALLY important, and shallower, more ‘entertaining’ content tends to get watched for longer.

You can also try telling stories in your marketing, since those ‘suck’ the viewer in, thus exploding your watch time.

Listen to What Works: Metrics That Matter

You might be tempted to post titles like “TOP 10 BETRAYALS [GONE WRONG]” and heavily edit them – just to get more views and likes.

But trust me, you can’t pay rent with likes.

The same content that gets views is not the same content that gets SALES.

So forget about likes.

If you are doing content marketing, the goal is to move the reader closer to a purchase.

The most important thing is the call to action.

It’s not about how many people liked it, but how many people took action.

Closely watch which platforms actually drive ROI and focus on THAT one. Distinguish the viewers from the buyers.

You’ll make me and your wallet very happy if you do that.

Tools That Make Repurposing Content Easier (And Faster)

A modern assembly line in a high-tech factory, showcasing the transformation of content into various media formats.

At last, let me give you my crazy tech stack for repurposing videos. It’s actually very simple:

  • Lumen5: Auto-convert blog content into videos
  • Canva: Templates for infographics, carousels, and quote cards
  • Later / Buffer: Schedule content for off-hour engagement
  • Descript: Turn podcast or video into text, clips, or audiograms
  • Notion or Airtable: Track your repurposing pipeline.
  • Optional: Freelancers that take things off your plate (they’re people though, not a ‘part of the tech stack’)

Takeaways

If you’re promoting your brand on social media and you want to move WAY faster – repurpose your content.

Trust me, you’ll reach way more people and you’ll save time.

Here’s a recap of what we talked about today, as well as some actionable steps:

  • If you’re always creating new content without repurposing, you’re not being efficient. Always look for leverage.
  • Make your content for ONE platform… and then reformat it for other platforms.
  • Go long-form → short-form.
  • Example: Film a longer YouTube video, and make 5 shorts from it. Post the shorts on YouTube AND Instagram.
  • You can hire a freelancer to take care of that for you, so you can focus on creating new, valuable content.
  • Find your ‘hero’ pieces and repurpose those. Don’t waste time and money on posts that flopped.
  • Start repurposing blogs into videos ASAP. There are 2 reasons for that:
  • LLMs are replacing Google searches, and…
  • Video is king. Video gets way more attention, retention, and shares.
  • That does NOT mean “stop writing blogs altogether.”
  • Track metrics such as conversions, not likes.
